Jack Snell is a writer and director who incorporates political and social issues into his work, often exploring themes of identity and community with a blend of satire and drama.

 

Jack is a recent graduate from Kingston University where he received a First Class in Filmmaking BA (Hons), and previously attended The BRIT School studying Film and Media Production. He has participated in the BFI Film Academy, BAFTA Mentorship Programme and Film London Mentorship Programme, with a focus on writing and directing. Jack founded the Kingston Film Society, has been commissioned by Eastside Studios to direct a short film, created visual displays for The APPLE Store, served on the jury for the UK Jewish Film Festival, and worked for the BFI London Film Festival and the Kingston International Film Festival.

 

Jack's work has been nominated for Best Short Film at the BAFTA-Qualifying UK Jewish Film Festival and the Eadweard Muybridge Award at the Kingston International Film Festival. His films have been shown at the BFI Southbank, Regents Street Cinema, Phoenix Cinema, ICA, and the David Lean Cinema.

Working across various roles, including directing, screenwriting, and occasionally composing, Jack has explored styles ranging from Polish-language arthouse to a 70's talk show gone wrong. Jack is passionate about creating unique cinematic worlds that encourage audiences to reflect on their own reality and bring awareness to overlooked issues.
